Gurumatha Amma in Montreal: Saturday August 8 to Thursday August 18
Shree Gurumatha Amma will be in Montreal, Canada this summer to share her unconditional love with everyone. Preparations are underway for 10 spectacular days of spiritual awakening. Amma will offer a public program at Hindu Mandir Temple and/or Concordia University, followed by a Six-Day Course in which Amma will guide each participant towards his or her inner divinity. The Course will culminate in the mystical Sri Chakra Puja (ceremony). A 3-Day Retreat at the beautiful Manoir d'Youville in Chateauguay (an old monastery transformed into a conference and retreat destination) overlooking the Saint Laurence River will conclude Amma’s stay in Montreal. The six day course is held in a beautiful, bright space of a private home overlooking the St. Laurence river.
The course covers aspects such as Hatha Yoga, Pranayama exercises (yogic breathing), Meditation and Gayatri Maha Mantra. Gurumatha Amma will also expound the meaning and provide a rare initiation into the Surya Gayatri Mantra, the highest form of the Gayatri Maha Mantra.
"The Surya Gayatri, also known as the Adi Gayatri, is an invocation that first appeared in the Rig Veda, an ancient scripture of India. It is considered the original and principal mantra among the gayatri mantras dedicated to various deities."
This mantra honors Surya Devata, also known as Savitri, the lord of the sun. As the effulgence that brings life to and illumines all activities in the world, Savitri represents the supreme light of Consciousness, the Self of all."
Initiation into this mantra improves clarity for meditation and facilitates the journey on the path to Self-Realization by consciously connecting our everyday life to the universal energy, represented through the form of the sun. Chanting of - and meditating on - the Suryia Gayatri Mantra establishes a connection between the microcosm (the Individual Self) and the macrocosm (the Universal Self), therefore facilitating your journey on the path to Self Realization and Enlightenment.
